The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As an Industrial Hygienist , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Developing and implementing comprehensive industrial hygiene program consisting of such components as respiratory protection, ventilation and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc. Provide technical expertise and assistance in all aspects of the site’s EHS efforts, with a dedicated focus on industrial hygiene & ventilation. Leading incident investigations impacting employee health. Managing all Industrial Hygiene (IH) related internal company requirements. Conducting personal sampling to determine potential impact from environmental factors and occupational health hazards Write IH reports communicating sampling results, data interpretation, controls & recommendations. Developing and conducting IH-related training. Conducting Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations and determines appropriate remediation. Provide EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment thru Management of Change. Reviewing process standards to properly determine IH and safety concerns and to specific appropriate PPE. Reviewing new chemical compositions entering the facility for IH concerns. Partners with 3M engineering and industrial hygiene organizations of relevant programs and projects. Monitors regulatory trends and activities related to industrial hygiene that could have an impact on our site operations. Assist with the coordination and training of the Site Emergency Response Team Assist in meeting departmental plan for Lean Six Sigma targets and leading EHS projects. Assist with hearing conservation, ergonomics, radiation, ISO14001, injury prevention and process safety management. Assist in auditing site processes to assure compliance with 3M, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupation Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) policies regarding issues such as: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance, Machine Guarding, Confined Space Entry/Rescue, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Process Safety Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Three (3) years of EHS Engineering or Industrial Hygiene experience in a manufacturing setting in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Public Health or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to obtain within the first eighteen (18) months of employment at 3M.
  • Experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in implementation of comprehensive exposure assessment and management systems.
  • Experience with chemical agent sampling and analytical method implementation and development including real time detection systems.
  • Experience with an IH data management program (such as Work CHEC-applies to internal applicants only).
  • Experience with a wide range of exposure assessment sampling methods and relevant analytical methods including real time instrumentation.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) with the ability to work closely with plant management and production employees.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
