About The Position

Under general supervision, Industrial Hygienist II is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employees, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under general supervision performs moderately complex technical work in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; exhibits knowledge and applies concepts, practices and procedures of industrial hygiene; develops, implements and maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related science or engineering field.
  • BS and 5 yrs related experience or MS and 3 yrs related experience.
  • ABIH Certification (CIH) preferred.
  • Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.
  • Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.
  • Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
  • Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and program compliance documents.
  • Establishes and maintains permits as required.
  • Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
  • Develops and implements IH programs including IH processes, procedures and/or specifications.
  • Performs statistical analysis of IH data.
  • Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.
