About the position

In either a consultation or an enforcement mode, Industrial Hygienists identify, evaluate, and recommend controls for health hazards in the workplace through conducting inspections, investigations, surveys, research and analysis involving scientific disciplines such as chemistry, physics, engineering, epidemiology, toxicology, physiology, infection control, biomechanical and human factors engineering, and occupational health. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. This is an Industrial Hygienist 3 consultation with Business & Industry's Division of Industrial Relations, Nevada Safety Consultation and Training Section (NV SCATS) located in Las Vegas. This recruitment will be used to underfill the Industrial Hygienist 3. This position will report to the Las Vegas Consultation Supervisor. The Incumbent will promote safety practices, perform consultations independently, and educate employers on State and Federal safety laws and regulations. Primary responsibilities include conducting consultation surveys, informal training, safety program development, and identifying and recommending solutions for complex safety and health hazards. The incumbent is also tasked with writing consultation reports, researching the federal and state regulations and effectively communicating items found and corrective actions to the client. Additionally, this position will be assigned technical assistance days and will answer safety and health questions via phone, email or walk-ins.
