About The Position

This position's primary focus will be performing technical evaluations associated with new facility equipment and modifications, conducting routine compliance audits, inspections, and assessments of existing plant conditions. These technical evaluations will include risk assessments and Process Hazard Analysis methodologies such as Event Tree Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, or What-If assessments.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other applicable engineering/science field is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience in performing safety related functions within an industrial setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must have working knowledge of OSHA 29CFR1910 General Industry Regulations and Standards, specifically Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection Requirements, and Industrial Hygiene Sampling Techniques.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and possess proven ability to resolve conflict.
  • Must be highly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment with proven success as a problem solver, negotiator, facilitator, and decision maker.
  • Must be a US citizen with no dual citizenship as well as able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance.
  • Must understand regulatory compliance and understand the importance of maintaining accurate documentation associated with accident investigation and routine audits.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics and flow diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates facility modifications to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Conducts studies and surveys on general plant safety and facility needs as required by OSHA regulations and keeping with established safety work practices.
  • Performs written reports, technical documents, compliance reviews and initiates appropriate corrective actions and improvement suggestions to mitigate and abate regulatory deficiencies.
  • Collaborates across facility departments to ensure equipment and processes are being maintained and hazardous conditions are corrected.
  • Facilitates compliance programs to ensure all Federal and State Safety and Health Regulations are maintained.
  • Participates in Emergency Team training exercises and facility drills and emergency events.
  • Prepares and issues written and verbal reports to management summarizing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Provides technical support to line management regarding the implementation of company procedures and safety requirements and principles.
  • Provides leadership and consultation to coworkers and supports Environment Safety and Health Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
