About The Position

Givens, established in 1957, is a rapidly growing company that provides single-source solutions for warehouse, distribution, transportation, packing and crating, and air freight services. They are seeking a Yard Laborer/Forklift Operator for their Packing and Crating division in Chesapeake, VA. The ideal candidate must have the ability to operate 35k forklifts and possess rigging experience.

Requirements

• Experience moving heavy objects.
• Working outside in warehouse yard securing freight to ocean equipment containers (open top/flat rack) for export.
• Unloading import freight from ocean equipment containers.
• Use of chains/binders, strapping material, tape measures, power tools (nail guns/saws).
• Attention to detail.
• Careful handling of freight.
• Able to withstand outside conditions during the seasons.

Responsibilities

• Securing of freight to flat racks and in open top containers.
• Utilizing Industrial 35k forklifts to accomplish tasks.
• Cleaning out/off containers and work areas.
• Must be able to follow direction, work independently or work in a team.
• Careful handling of customer freight.
