This role will provide overall leadership in setting Engineering strategy and technical direction for Cleveland's Industrial Engineering team. Responsible for providing support, guidance, and training to plant Industrial Engineering and Workplace Organization (WO) teams. Will interact with Finance, Production & Operations, Central Manufacturing Engineering (CME), New Product Introduction (NPI) groups, and the Whirlpool World Class Manufacturing (WCM) teams. Reports directly to the plant Senior Director and will lead a team of Industrial Engineers, IE Technicians, and WCM Technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing industrial engineering and process development.

  • Experience in setting time standards and labor levels in Assembly and Backshop processes (Stamping, Cavity Fabrication, CNC Fabrication, and Finishing).
  • Have conducted ergonomic studies and implemented solutions to reduce ergonomic risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive lean manufacturing initiatives (i.e., World Class Manufacturing).
  • Experience as Workplace Organization (WO) pillar leader and/or WCM site lead.
  • Confidence and willingness to take calculated risks, implement new ideas, drive for results, and sustain change.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide an engaging work environment.
  • Proven record of attracting and developing talented people and effectively allocating and utilizing resources.
  • Proplanner Manufacturing Data Management for the Product Lifecycle software (PLM-MDM).

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans and drive actions to improve labor efficiencies and eliminate non-value added activities.
  • Lead production line rate increases and shift additions to reduce backorders.
  • Drive World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies and champion the concept of ‘Zero' to eliminate plant losses in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people.
  • Manage cost by monitoring and reducing controllable spend and overtime.
  • Drive Kaizen projects that reduce losses in cost and improve efficiencies.
  • Build organizational capability through proactive coaching of your direct reports on skill-building and career development.
  • Build relationships with the broader manufacturing organization and with Human Resources, Legal, Demand Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics.
  • Proactively collaborate with peers in other Whirlpool manufacturing locations, global business teams, brand, channel/corporate technology, and finance organizations and leverage enterprise-wide expertise.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the organizational, technical and business information processes/systems through lean/innovative thinking/ideas.
  • Partner with product development teams to ensure the right technology and processes to support new products and drive seamless product launches.
  • Participate in product line rationalization, simplification, core/non-core discussions.
