This summer internship position focuses on identifying improvements that increase engineering efficiency. In this meaningful role, you will have the opportunity to apply Industrial Engineering and Lean concepts to improve product and information flow, reduce inventory, meet customer delivery, increase capacity, reduce complexity, and reduce costs.

Requirements

  • Candidate is enrolled in an Industrial Engineering degree program.
  • Interest in applying industrial engineering skills including capacity analysis, cost modeling, and facility layout development.
  • Interest in applying Lean manufacturing concepts and principles.

  • Experience in Lean transformation of a business and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Self-motivated, independent, flexible, quick learner.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills.
  • Sound decision-making and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project teams to apply Industrial Engineering tools to yield process and flow improvements.
  • Perform cost and capacity studies, economic comparisons, and justification analysis.
  • Evaluate systems, methods, human factors, workflow, and other opportunities for productivity improvement.
  • Implement Lean fundamental concepts such as value stream mapping and layout concepts for flow and pull.
  • Engage with manufacturing or innovation teams to understand workflow and problems to solve.
  • Apply industrial engineering analysis to deliver results including observing and understanding production workflow.
  • Complete observations and data analysis, write summaries and conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Present the results to the engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Use engineering principles and data to solve problems, including production issues.
  • Develop and execute project plans including requirements, deliverables, resources, timing, and risks.
  • Identify areas of potential productivity improvement and generate ideas.
