Requirements

  • The Industrial Engineer [IE] works with Operations to develop, implement, and deploy approved operational processes and best practices throughout the company.
  • IE trains Operation resources in the approved processes and standards for work measurement.
  • The IE assists in new and special reengineering projects and takes a lead role in the planning and execution of large project implementations and training initiatives.
  • IE manages other subject matter experts to ensure timelines and project deliverables are met, as well as develops Web Application training material for use by operations trainers, coordinates field training, and may be leveraged in other departments to add value.

  • Knowledge of transportation industry processes, procedures, and methods
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and process improvement projects
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or driving throughout the workday
  • Willing to travel to various job sites and other locations
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Create, analyze and apply original work measurement
  • Develops and analyzes current operating plan to determine opportunities for improving process/workflow
  • Develops work measurement to optimize operating planning and financials
  • Develops solutions to operational issues; works with operations management to implement changes to reach desired cost reduction and service improvements
  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives including evaluation of current operations, data analysis and implementation of recommended solutions
  • Conducts operations forecasting for staffing, assets and facility needs to ensure service commitments are met
  • Maintains self-development, ongoing communications and reporting with cross-functional departments
  • Identifies issues that require training or re-training to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness across all operations including Inbound, Outbound, Hub, and Line Haul
  • Provides training to management for implementation of new procedures, processes, services and technology; coordinates with process writers to create training documents
  • Assumes project management responsibilities and conducts financial analysis
  • Conducts data analysis and modeling to support process improvement initiatives
  • Identifies and implements technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency
  • Develops and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring process performance
  • Leads cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and best practices
  • Analyzes operational data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings
  • Develops and delivers training programs for operational staff on new processes, technology solutions, and work measurement standards
