INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER Plainwell, Michigan DESCRIPTION Position at JBS USA Food Company Salaried Position Position Title: Industrial Engineer Department: Industrial Engineering Location: Plainwell, Michigan Salary Class: Exempt Title of Supervisor: Industrial Engineering Manager Purpose & Scope: Key purpose of this position is to develop, install and maintain cost effective methods of manufacturing. Principle Responsibilities: List and describe (in order of importance) the specific tasks, assignments, level of discretionary authority and/or functions performed. Participates in the initiation phase of new production lines to assist in design for cost effective manufacturing, layout, labor, and efficiencies. Perform motion studies to support operations on crewing needs and to stablish standards Measure variances to standards, identifies out of control variances, investigates root causes and suggests solutions Generate daily, and weekly labor and HOG reports. Lead weekly labor meetings with the plant team to drive actions and results Investigate, and install most effective methods of manufacturing to keep company at competitive edge Drive the use of processes throughout the business. Be a lead in process map training and drive the culture of continuous improvement Assist in financial planning and cost analysis. (Labor reporting, cost to produce and payback analysis) Responsible for all plant efficiency files calculations and accuracy Resolve labor issues relative to RE/Workload management with legal department, and UFCW Educates plant personnel on work measurements and assists corporate with labor initiatives Update and maintain EASE standards and video server Frequent communication with senior team members concerning status of labor efficiency and projects Regular contact with IE team at corporate and other facilities Perform other projects/assignments as required. Working Conditions: Travel up to 15% a year Must be able to work in areas with hot and cold temperatures Not remote 50% standing and walking around the facility Work with plant's operations schedule, which may include some Saturdays Requirements: Education: Four-year degree in Engineering, or related field. Experience: 2+ year in manufacturing Experience with motion studies beneficial Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office, with focus on excel Organized and detail oriented Manage priorities and dynamic deadlines Strong analytical and math skills Self-starter and a team player Ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal Process oriented Relationships Internal: Regional Beef Team External: Contractors Supervision of Personnel: Manages: This position has no direct reports EOE, INCLUDING DISABILITY/VETS

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ year in manufacturing
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, with focus on excel
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Manage priorities and dynamic deadlines
  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Self-starter and a team player
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal
  • Process oriented
