About the position

As an Industrial Engineer at Ford, you would be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving production systems and processes to optimize efficiency and productivity. You would also work on identifying and resolving bottlenecks, streamlining workflows, and implementing lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve quality. Additionally, you may be involved in analyzing data, conducting time and motion studies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement efforts. Your role would be integral to Ford's manufacturing operations and the overall success of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Drive development and/or installation of direct and indirect labor standards and methods.
  • Track labor, efficient manpower utilization and line balancing.
  • Conduct Job Ergonomics evaluations.
  • Analyze problem process constraints and conduct equipment cycle time analysis.
  • Recommend most efficient distribution of manpower and review daily employee manpower.
  • Analyze plant methods and standards.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of cost estimates of new or revised methods and standards.
  • Review proposed changes in plant layout, processes, material handling, routing, etc.
  • Analyze production and non-production operations to determine those requiring study and develop new or improved methods and standards.
  • Conduct time and motion/MODAPTS studies and review employee proposals and suggestions.
  • Develop cycle line layouts or participate actively during the meetings for current and future models.
  • Lead job methodization and process allocations.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and planning.
  • Conduct value stream mapping and process audits.
  • Evaluate the current performance of production methods, automation features and employee schedules to help increase revenue, while minimizing costs.
  • Develop cost saving project proposals and write projects as required.
  • Interface with Production Supervision and the teams involved.
  • Assist production in planning labor allocations for mix and line speed changes.
  • Develop cycle line layouts for current and future models using ACAD.
  • Interface with Production Supervision and the UAW to settle job disputes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing or production engineering.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and time studies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, specifically ACAD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with job ergonomics evaluations.
  • Familiarity with value stream mapping.
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing.
