The Position: Acme Industries is seeking a hands-on Industrial Engineer to serve as a technical change agent, Continuous Improvement (CI) owner, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) leader. This is a high-impact blended role for someone who thrives at the intersection of manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, and safe, compliant operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 3-7+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices
  • Proven ability to lead change on the shop floor

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100/ISO preferred)
  • Environmental permitting and compliance experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
  • Experience tracking and validating cost savings
  • Exposure to ISO 14001 and OSHA-based systems

Responsibilities

  • Drive improvements in flow, capacity, and productivity using proven IE methods.
  • Analyze and improve process flow, layout, and material movement
  • Conduct time studies, develop labor standards, and improve line balancing
  • Reduce waste (motion, waiting, transport, overprocessing, etc.)
  • Improve throughput, WIP control, and space utilization
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and capital projects
  • Develop standard work and visual controls
  • Own and institutionalize a structured, data-driven CI system.
  • Build and manage a CI project funnel aligned to business priorities
  • Lead cost reduction, productivity, quality, and lead-time initiatives
  • Quantify and validate hard cost savings and ROI
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, A3/8D problem solving, and root cause analysis
  • Coach supervisors and operators in CI thinking
  • Maintain dashboards and report results to leadership
  • Ensure improvements are sustained and audited
  • Serve as the site-level leader for industrial safety and environmental compliance, working closely with operations leadership.
  • Lead plant safety programs and culture development
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training for: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Machine guarding Hazard communication PPE and safe work practices
  • Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSA), and incident investigations
  • Drive corrective actions and near-miss reporting
  • Own and maintain compliance for: Air permits Wastewater / discharge permits Stormwater management and SWPPP Hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling
  • Coordinate inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators as required
  • Partner with external consultants as needed
  • Ensure environmental requirements are integrated into daily operations and CI efforts
