About The Position

The position involves troubleshooting and inspecting customer's equipment through visual inspection and the use of testing and diagnostic equipment to determine problems or malfunctions. The technician will regularly remove, repair, or replace components on engines, electrical systems, air systems, generators, and fuel systems, ensuring that repairs meet or exceed the expectations of the Service Operations Manager and the customer. Detailed and accurate service reports must be written to document the nature of the job and the work completed. Job placement will be based on knowledge, skills, and abilities, with various levels of apprenticeship and experience required for different roles.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of mechanical tools and service procedures.
  • 1 year of experience in working on heavy equipment or strong mechanical aptitude for Apprentice I.
  • Certificate from a Trade School and/or 2 years of heavy equipment experience for Apprentice II.
  • Minimum four years of previous heavy equipment experience for Field level.
  • Minimum ten years of previous heavy equipment experience for Master level.
  • Ability to read and understand English, service manuals, and electrical schematics.
  • Mechanical background and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic PC skills and ability to use Cat software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with natural gas and diesel industrial engines.
  • Ability to write meaningful and legible service reports.
  • Knowledge of various types of systems on different engines.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and inspect customer's equipment using visual inspection and diagnostic tools.

  • Review data from troubleshooting to create job estimates and parts orders.
  • Operate mining and construction equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
