About The Position

The position involves performing electrical and controls equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance in an industrial setting. The role requires working with various electrical systems, including 440-volt 3-phase and 110/220-volt 1-phase equipment, and ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code. The technician will also be responsible for documenting work completed using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and may need to work outdoors in a plant environment with exposure to noise and dust. The schedule includes on-call rotation one week per month, with hours from 9 PM to 5:30 AM.

Requirements

  • Journeyman or certification in Industrial Electricity or closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrician experience in the industrial electrical field is required.
  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repair of single and 3-phase equipment.
  • Proficient in National Electrical Code and NFPA codes.
  • Proficient in interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting control circuits.
  • Able to perform technical work involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor control, and power distribution.
  • Fluent in English with the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts and overtime.
  • Demonstrated successful work history involving standing for prolonged periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electrical/controls equipment inspections and identifies needed work.
  • Performs electrical/controls preventive maintenance including breaker servicing, infrared inspections, time/condition-based replacements, and calibrations to plant instruments and calibration tools.
  • Performs electrical/controls corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing electrical malfunctions on motors, starters, control circuitry, transformers, and associated wiring.
  • Installs electrical service and control equipment for new process equipment according to National Electrical Code regulations.
  • Uses the CMMS daily to document and provide feedback on work completed.
  • Works outdoors in a plant environment with exposure to noise and dust.
  • Enters confined spaces as required and follows safety policies and procedures.
  • Climbs stairs and scaffolding as necessary.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Works 8-hour shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
