About The Position

The Industrial Electrician Instrument position at Madison Gas & Electric Co. involves maintaining and improving equipment for the safe and efficient operation of Energy Production facilities. Requirements

• Graduation from a trade school, technical school, or recognized apprenticeship program with an emphasis on electrical maintenance in power generation.
• At least five years of related experience operating and/or maintaining major equipment in an operational power plant or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
• Strong understanding of computerized control systems (PLCs, microprocessors) and ability to interpret associated software coding.

Responsibilities

• Check, test, adjust, calibrate, inspect, maintain, and improve equipment necessary for energy production.
• Perform routine and non-routine preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work on facility electrical and I&C equipment.
• Conduct chemical analyses on plant water systems and adjust chemical treatments as required.
• Develop and schedule electrical and I&C work for major outages and perform maintenance tasks during these outages.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and welding repairs as assigned.
• Monitor stock levels and manage the ordering and receiving of materials.
• Interface with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes, laws, and regulations.
• Safely rig and handle heavy equipment and operate hoisting equipment.
• Work with and direct contractors and temporary personnel to complete assigned objectives.
• Prepare, lead, and participate in training sessions as required.
• Maintain orderly shop, stores, and other maintenance areas.
