About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our operations & maintenance team. This position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the facility electrical equipment in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environment including clean rooms. This position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility electrical and mechanical equipment. Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot all electrical equipment and systems including, but not limited to, motors, drives, low voltage controls, lighting, PLC’s, HVAC, chillers, etc. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication. The position must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Licensed Master Electrician or Journeyman's License.
  • Three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • May require additional licensing per state regulations.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
  • Six years of maintenance experience in one of the following trades demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: Industrial HVAC/ Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
  • Experience working safely with 24V, 120V, 277V, and 480V 3 phase circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial lighting systems.
  • Experience installing conduit.
  • Experience troubleshooting motor controls and electric motors.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC logic.
  • Experience troubleshooting soft starers and VFDs.
  • Experience using a CMMS; Maximo experience is a plus.
  • Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.
  • Infrared Thermography Certification (e.g., Level I or Level II Thermographer) or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment up to 480-volt 3 phase and facility systems such as roof top units (RTUs), doors, lighting, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motors control circuits.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) if position is in USA or Canadian Electrical Code if position is in Canada.
  • Utilizes the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment.
  • Utilizes strong electrical and mechanical skills to complete assignments.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoots electrical components such as, but not limited to PLCs, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Performs predictive maintenance activities including infrared (IR) thermographic inspections of electrical distribution systems to identify hot spots, load imbalances, loose connections, and equipment degradation.
  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance with codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Knowledge of electrical system components - MCCs, inverters, motors, etc.
  • Knowledge of using Ohm’s Law, unit conversion, and other electrical related formulas.
  • Differentiates between cause types when troubleshooting among product, process, mechanical, and electrical contributors.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/prints, updating electrical prints/schematics assigned for modification.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintains a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
