The position requires a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Candidates must possess either a Journeyman's card or have 4 years of applicable maintenance experience, along with a qualifying score on an assessment administered by Howmet during the interview process. The role will involve working on 2nd or 3rd shift based on the collective bargaining agreement. The primary responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, designing, constructing, testing, calibrating, adjusting, modifying replacement parts, and servicing various types of electrical and electronic equipment. This includes communication systems, radios, radio-controlled cranes, gauges, measuring devices, ultrasonic and fluidic equipment, VDTs, PLCs, microprocessors, numerical and programmable controllers, and both low and high voltage power distribution systems. The technician will also be responsible for diagnosing and correcting problems, proactively seeking to eliminate waste and failures, and interfacing with design and engineering teams to ensure efficient installations and repairs while maintaining equipment documentation integrity. Additionally, the role involves performing and documenting preventative maintenance checks, inspections, and repairs, using PLCs and other microprocessor-based equipment, programming robotic equipment, and performing incidental welding tasks. The technician will also operate transportation and material handling equipment as required, organize and maintain work areas, and develop safe work instructions and procedures. Reliability tools and information systems will be utilized to collect, document, and analyze data and equipment performance to resolve issues to the root cause, and computerized maintenance management systems will be used to manage work orders and equipment status.
