About The Position

DVC's Industrial Design department is looking for qualified adjuncts to teach IDSGN-107 Furniture Design Studio and IDSGN-221 Transportation Design Studio classes. The course covers the design process including color drawing, three-dimensional computer-aided design, ergonomics/human factors research, and rapid prototyping/scale model-making. Applicants should have excellent skills in communication and experience working with individuals or teams in a collaborative educational environment. Although teaching experience is preferred, applicants with no prior teaching experience but a strong aptitude or interest in teaching are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Master's in any field of engineering OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology.
  • Bachelor Degree in any degree with two years work experience in industrial design / product design/engineering.
  • Associate Degree in any degree with six years' work experience in industrial design/product design/engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
  • Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
  • Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work.
  • Meeting with students outside of class.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Maintaining accurate academic records.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
