Industrial Compressed Air Field Service Specialist Primary service area: Fredericksburg / Stafford / Williamsburg / Petersburg, VA A day in this role You start your day reviewing the work queue and setting up precision instruments for onsite diagnostics. By mid-morning, you're installing or commissioning rotary screw, reciprocating, Centac, or ECC air compressors and related components (dryers, filtration, cooling). Afternoons often bring complex troubleshooting: interpreting readings, consulting OEM operations and parts manuals across multiple brands, and restoring uptime for customers who count on mission-critical compressed air. You wrap up by documenting findings, coaching site personnel, and closing out accurate reports and expenses. What you will do Install, commission, maintain, and perform field repairs on Ingersoll Rand equipment at customer locations, ensuring work is completed to specification and safety standards. Stay current on installation, service, and repair practices for rotary screw, reciprocating, Centac, ECC, and auxiliary compressed air system components. Coach customers, prospects, field sales, and service trainees; translate technical concepts into practical know-how. Operate independently to diagnose faults, recommend corrective actions, and deliver clear written and/or verbal updates to the factory. Demonstrate unwavering integrity in all business matters. Communicate concisely and logically about service work; maintain exemplary documentation. Produce detailed, legible service reports suitable for customer billing. Submit accurate weekly timecards and expense reports; responsibly manage company funds, credit cards, and (if assigned) a company vehicle.
