About The Position

The Industrial Coatings Application Technician prepares, applies, and inspects industrial-grade coatings on hydraulic components to maximize performance and extend equipment life. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and dedicated to quality craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Prepare surfaces by sandblasting, grinding, cleaning, or chemical pretreatment.
  • Mix and prepare industrial coating materials according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings by spray, brush, or dip methods.
  • Inspect coated components for defects and coverage quality.
  • Perform minor touch-ups and rework as needed.
  • Maintain application equipment through routine cleaning and basic repairs.
  • Accurately document work performed and materials used.
  • Types and functions of industrial coatings (Cosmoline, latex, epoxy, etc.)
  • Surface preparation methods and standards
  • Proper use and maintenance of spraying equipment
  • Safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA related to coatings)
  • Basic hydraulic system components and mechanical assemblies
  • Attention to detail for defect-free coating work
  • Mechanical skills for equipment setup and adjustment
  • Quality control and inspection techniques
  • Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Reading and understanding technical documents and datasheets
  • Arm-hand steadiness for accurate spray application
  • Manual dexterity for handling small or intricate parts
  • Near vision for identifying surface imperfections
  • Problem sensitivity to detect and correct coating flaws
  • Physical stamina to stand, lift, and work in confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed job orders, technical instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of surface preparation and coating application.
  • Coordinate with hydraulic technicians to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure all coatings meet internal quality control and client specifications.
  • Operate and monitor coating and blasting equipment safely and effectively.
  • Manage hazardous materials per company policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate promptly about equipment malfunctions, supply needs, or work order issues.
