Industrial Automation Field Service Technician

About The Position

What a Day Looks Like You start your day reviewing service reports, then head to a customer site where a production line is down. You observe equipment in operation to pinpoint the root cause, disassemble components to access faulty parts, adjust controls, replace worn items, and bring the system back online. Before you leave, you document every step in the service system, collaborate with the customer team on preventative steps, and plan parts and tooling for the next visit. The work varies, but the goal is constant: reliable equipment and safe operations. Your Core Responsibilities Perform expert break-fix and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment, from diagnosing root causes to repairing electrical circuitry and mechanical systems. Disassemble machinery to access and replace defective parts; adjust functional components and control instruments as needed. Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items required for maintenance and repair tasks. Work largely independently, completing maintenance to industry standards with minimal instruction. Partner with customer counterparts to execute maintenance, reliability, and preventive maintenance procedures. Set up and operate machining equipment—such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders—and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair parts; perform welding as needed. Adhere to customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping expectations, and all safety processes. Accurately document work performed within service reports and applicable management systems. Use routine processes within industrial control systems to analyze complex equipment, perform maintenance, and resolve equipment issues. Apply deep electrical, mechanical, and fluid power knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Engage in on-the-job training and technical self-study to advance your skills and career. Follow all safety policies, rules, regulations, and technical instructions; maintain situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors or conditions.
