About The Position

A day in the life Morning kicks off on the concourse at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport or at our Sanford, FL headquarters. You review a control sequence, sync with field techs, and load freshly validated PLC logic. By midday, you’re shoulder-to-shoulder with project managers and customers, walking through HMI workflows and tightening up I/O mappings. The afternoon shifts to commissioning: structured troubleshooting, documenting fixes, and ensuring every subsystem talks cleanly across electrical, mechanical, and IT boundaries. At senior levels, you own the architecture and the customer’s confidence—from concept all the way through go-live. Where you’ll work This role may report from Atlanta (Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport) or our Sanford, FL Headquarters, depending on project assignment and operational needs. Levels, placement, and pay Role levels: I, II, III (scales by responsibility and scope). Placement determined during the interview process via résumé review, technical discussion, and skill assessment. Typical experience: Level I (early-career), Level II (3–5+ years), Level III (5+ years with demonstrated technical leadership). Salary range: $68,000 – $140,000 across Levels I–III. At Level III, you serve as a technical leader on complex automation projects—owning system architecture, technical execution, and customer confidence from concept through commissioning. This is a performance-driven role built on trust, experience, and accountability. What you’ll tackle Support or lead automation projects from design through commissioning (scope scales by level). Design and develop control systems spanning electrical, mechanical, and IT disciplines. Develop, review, and/or approve PLC/HMI code, drawings, and documentation. Act as a customer and project manager technical point of contact (Level II–III). Coordinate priorities, schedules, and workloads across engineering and field teams. Participate in—or lead—design reviews and hands-on troubleshooting. Mentor junior engineers (Level III). Use structured troubleshooting to drive root cause and implement permanent fixes. What you bring Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI platforms (depth increases by level). System integration knowledge: SCADA, industrial networks, and data flow. Calm execution in fast-paced, high-accountability environments. Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills. Clear, professional communication and customer-facing presence (Level II–III). Ownership mindset with sound technical judgment. Required and preferred experience Willingness to travel with short notice. Experience in live, high-pressure industrial environments. Strong electrical schematic and controls understanding. Ability to follow TSA testing requirements and execute test plans. Proficiency in IEC PLC languages. HMI background (FactoryTalk View preferred; Ignition or Wonderware acceptable). Working AutoCAD knowledge. Strong written and verbal documentation skills. Ability to supervise and coordinate with clients, vendors, and trades (Level II–III). 4+ years PLC programming experience preferred for Level III (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.).
