About The Position

The Individualized Support Aide is responsible for supporting classroom staff in implementing the daily developmental program of child(ren) identified as having special needs. Serve as part of a team with the Family Health Services Coordinator, Early Childhood Education/Disability Coordinator, teachers, and professionals to ensure that Children with Special Needs are appropriately served in the Head Start Center. Assist in developing individualized plans related to working with the child daily, by using a gentle, patient, and sensitive approach. With guidance from the teachers adjust the learning environment when necessary. Travel to appointments and therapy sessions as requested by the immediate supervisor. Communicate with therapist regarding changes in the child’s therapy and classroom application.

Requirements

  • Effective communication skills including reading and writing
  • Ability to follow directions and accept supervision given by the Teacher or other center staff
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Related medical experience desirable
  • High School Diploma or GED with CNA or CDA Credential and six (6) months’ experience working with young children with special needs
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
