About The Position
The Wage & Investment Division is responsible for assisting taxpayers in meeting their Federal Tax obligations. This position involves providing technical assistance that covers a wide range of individual income, excise, and employment taxes, as well as certain elements of all other kinds of taxes. The role requires conducting interviews with taxpayers to assess their tax situations, providing advice, and explaining the potential consequences of various courses of action available to them for the current and future tax years. Additionally, the position involves discussing tax law impacts with tax practitioners and accountants, reviewing books and records to understand the taxpayer's financial status, and conferring with taxpayers or their representatives to clarify issues related to tax law, regulations, notices, and account adjustments. In this role, you will assist taxpayers in preparing their tax returns and explain the implications of different actions they may take. You will also provide explanations regarding the collection and examination processes, ensuring that taxpayers are well-informed about their rights and responsibilities.
