About The Position

Embark on a dynamic internship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, supporting
our mission at Black Butte Dam and Lake. The position is designed to accomplish
the primary goals of promoting public safety and ensuring access to premier
recreation opportunities. As an intern, your major duties will involve direct
public outreach through water safety programs, assisting park rangers on
patrols, and managing daily campground operations. You will also contribute to
environmental stewardship by performing trail maintenance and conducting safety
inspections, gaining invaluable field experience in recreation and resource
management.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have the ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English
• Must have the ability to work outdoors and lift up to 40 pounds
• Must wear SCA provided attire while on duty

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of small power tool operation
• Landscaping/yard work experience
• Previous general maintenance experience
• Basic hand tool skills

Responsibilities

• Working alongside park rangers on vehicle and boat patrols
• Managing campground check-ins and check-outs
• Conducting safety inspections
• Performing trail inspections
• Checking restrooms, campsites, day use sites
• Updating the public on reservoir and weather conditions
• Performing light maintenance tasks to make repairs in recreation areas as needed
• Assisting in the implementation of the Corps’ Water Safety Programs
• Conducting public outreach
• Presenting water safety information at the lake
• Interacting with visitors daily
• Sharing the Corps' story through interpretation and dissemination of informational materials

Benefits

• Housing allowance - $1,000/month.
• $75/week Commuting Allowance
• $500/week Living Allowance.
• Reimbursed $650 for relocation if the selected candidate is not local (Receipts required)
