About The Position

Primary duties will be to assist the refuge staff on habitat restoration projects within Washington Maritime NWRC. This may include, but not limited to, planning, grant and plan writing, general invasives species control, seed bed preparation, and planting. Secondary duties are supporting refuge biologist with wildlife monitoring activities, data processing, and remote monitoring equipment installation. Lastly, supporting the refuge maintenance worker with facility maintenance.

Requirements

  • DOI certification to operate ORUVs (ATV/UTV)
  • Have a valid state driver's license to operate government vehicles
  • The ability to pass background investigation to attain access to government computers

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GIS and GPS systems
  • Ability to communicate in writing to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with tasks related to starting up a prairie habitat
  • Restoration project on a new refuge island and continuing
  • Habitat improvements on other refuge islands wildlife
  • Monitoring and data processing
