The placements will support the Seward Ranger District's Public Use Cabins and Developed Recreation program while working along Forest Service staff in the Chugach National Forest. Placements will be based out of Moose Pass, AK. Work includes but is not limited to basic carpentry, sanding and staining, deep cleaning, chimney sweeping, replacing/ repairing broken items, stocking woodsheds, reporting site conditions, developed recreation site operations/maintenance on seventeen campgrounds and seven day-use sites. Hiking, biking, ATV'ing, boating and aviation may be required to reach cabin locations. Cabin work will require overnight trips up to 10 nights duration at a time. Placements may also assist the trails and developed recreation programs maintaining and constructing trails, cleaning outhouses, posting signage, and maintaining backcountry campsites.
