About The Position

This position reports to the Indirect Lending Manager and Assistant Lending Manager. Responsible for providing Indirect auto loan services to Raiz FCU members/potential members through all participating auto dealerships. Responsible for reviewing all indirect loan applications within their lending limit in a timely manner and makes lending decisions within lending policy. Requires a thorough understanding of lending regulations and Credit Union lending programs, rate sheets, policies and procedures. Consistently demonstrates the ability to think independently and outside the box, while making sound lending decisions. Ability to methodically review complex information. This position requires someone who is highly motivated, positive and can clearly and effectively communicate with dealership finance departments. Maintains a low delinquency and charge off ratio in a high-volume environment. Participates in testing new indirect loan software and products. Requirements

  • Education - High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the financial industry
  • Minimum of 3 years consumer lending experience
  • Minimum of 2-year lending authority
  • Knowledge of Credit Union loan services and policies
  • Strong understanding of consumer lending policies, and procedures, products, and services, laws and regulations
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Professional phone etiquette, appearance and attitude
  • Well organized, attention to detail, time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills over the phone and in person
  • Strong multi-tasking, teamwork, focus, and sense of urgency

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for loan decisioning and communicating decision with dealers and team members.
  • Receives, analyzes and performs credit investigations for consumer loan requests from auto dealers and makes decisions.
  • Review and approve consumer loans within assigned guidelines and authority.
  • Makes recommendations on consumer loans outside of authority level.
  • Gathers pertinent information from dealers and members in order to thoroughly examine loan applications and communicate loan decisions in a timely manner.
  • Builds relationships with dealers by creating, cultivating and maintaining these relationships.
  • Handles escalated dealer calls.
  • Ensures confidentiality of credit union, member information and maintains the Credit union’s professional reputation.
  • Return phone calls within 24 hours
  • Accurately determines values for various types of collateral.
  • Displays a commitment to Red Carpet Service and strong interpersonal skills by building and maintaining positive relationships with members, team members, and external entities.
  • Experienced lending expert who is specialized in all indirect loan products and services provided and has general consumer lending knowledge.
  • Understands collection policies, verification of income methods, analyzing credit report, fraud prevention, lending regulations and the impact they have on our credit union’s financial health.
  • Attends required training, stays informed regarding local and national economic conditions, legal and regulatory changes, auto market news, reviews monthly charge off report and applies learnt knowledge when underwriting loan applications.
  • Cross train with Lending Center loan officers.
  • Understanding of Microsoft and Excel, loan origination, core system, and related software applications.
  • Performs minor maintenance on systems to include reviewing payment history, downloading documents, and researching outstanding items.
  • Acting as an empowering mentor to provide guidance to our members and dealers in order to build trust.
  • Meet with dealership personnel to educate them about indirect rate sheet, loan decisioning criteria and mitigating risk, in order to foster collaboration and increase efficiency.
  • Effectively manages time and resources.
  • Complete welcome calls for all new loans.
  • Follow up calls for first payment default loans
  • Supports and assists other lending areas.
  • Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to Customer Identification Program (CIP), Fair Lending Regulation and Military Lending Act (MLA).
  • Attends annual BSA and required compliance training.
