You will be responsible for compliance with respect to GST/QST matters as well as for other Canadian and foreign indirect taxes You will work with a broad-reaching group of seasoned professionals which is the gold standard in the area of Tax Your role will be critical to supporting, in the area of indirect taxes, the smooth operation of a number of business functions including procurement, marketing, logistics, and the aftermarket network This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Longueuil, and performed exclusively on-site.

Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with other stakeholders on a number of business deliverables whilst willing to develop professionally
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong competency in the field of Canadian sales tax (GST/QST). Knowledge of foreign transactional taxes (VAT and US Sales tax knowledge are assets)
  • Willingness to communicate complex issues to non-technical collaborators
  • IT systems (SAP S4Hana, Sabrix, OneStream) knowledge and interest in evolving these systems
  • CPA or equivalent with 3-6 years’ experience in Canadian indirect tax
  • Functional level in French and English
  • Team player with keen business acumen and a solid ethical compass
  • This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

  • Knowledge of foreign transactional taxes (VAT and US Sales tax knowledge are assets)

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with the Canadian and foreign-based tax teams in to ensure benchmark compliance in matters of GST/QST, VAT, US Sales Taxes, and other indirect taxes
  • Managing indirect tax audits and implementing improvements required as a result thereof
  • Working in partnership with the information technologies teams to monitor and update our systems to ensure the automated computation of transactional taxes
  • Analysis and partnering with key stakeholders on business solutions to support enterprise goals
  • Enhance and continuously improve processes for which the candidate will be responsible, as the laws and business evolve
  • Develop cutting-edge technical competencies in the field of indirect taxes which are relevant to the business’ objectives
  • Support the budgeting process, including for property taxes and for the Tax Function
