About The Position

The Associate Tax Analyst role is responsible for preparing and filing US and Canadian sales tax returns. This position also responds to customer inquiries regarding sales tax via phone and email, maintains the exempt status of customers in the billing platform, and issues tax credits. Additional support may be provided with business license applications and renewals, and unclaimed property related mailings. Job Functions: Solicit and gather tax exemption certificates from customers. Validate accuracy of the certificate, issue tax credit and flag customer exempt. Issue exemption certificates to vendors as requested following company guidelines. Update customer exempt certs as required. Gather tax data from the billing and accounting records, prepare work papers, file US and Canadian sales and use tax returns with associated schedules and initiate timely payments. Prepare use tax calculation for promotional materials. Respond in writing to notices from taxing jurisdictions. Perform special projects as needed. (e.g. Gather and analyze documentation for sales and use tax audits; assist with unclaimed property). Work with internal and external customers regarding tax questions on customer accounts. Acquire and maintain business licenses and annual reports.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in accounting or business administration and 1 year of basic accounting experience required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 3 years of experience in multistate sales tax compliance
  • Vertex Returns and SAP experience
  • Strong attention to detail, well developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and team members
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
