We’re looking for an Indirect Category Manager that is passionate about the development of new and creative ways to drive improvement through harmonized strategies, initiatives and processes for service, quality, and cost in Indirect Sourcing. In this role, you’ll guide cross-functional business partners to achieve and exceed company objectives through leading key aspects of sourcing strategy development, supplier performance metrics, agreement and contract negotiation, and initiative execution for the indirect spend category. In addition, you will build professional and results fostering relationships with internal partners and external suppliers. This role reports to the Director of Global Sourcing and Supplier Development.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes the vision of the category through development of strategies and execution of action plans for a diversified supply base
  • Champion development, installation and utilization of processes and data analytics to set and optimize strategies for sustained sourcing performance
  • Works closely with cross-functional team members in areas such as quality, engineering, marketing, operations, facilities, human resources and finance to proactively ensure alignment and execution planning to achieve business goals
  • Delivers cost savings via opportunity identification in value management, market bidding, outlier analysis, supplier competition, supplier development and improvements
  • Keeps current with shifts in laws and regulatory compliance, both company and governmental, to protect the company’s assets in an always changing market
  • Builds effective cross-functional and supplier relationships that are needed to bring in products and services that consistently meet or exceed Delta’s expectations and supplier performance goals
  • Assures business awards are per strategy and total value proposition considerations
  • Proactively leads supplier performance management via metric setting and measurement, including risk mitigation planning for business continuity of key products or services
  • Leads negotiation strategies with cross-functional business partners to establish effective contracts with providers
  • Supports and/or leads related cross-functional activities to support business objectives
  • Completes timely and effectively on special projects and ad-hoc management requests
  • Assures effective presence, compliance and auditing of department standard work
  • Builds winning teams through coaching, training and career development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, Operations or related fields
  • 7+ years of working experience in related field(s); indirect sourcing experience preferred
  • 3+ years of management / leadership experience in developing team members
  • Proficient use in tools such as: SAP (or similar ERP), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI), Project Management (Smartsheet), Supplier portal and procurement solutions (GEP, Ariba)
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and communication skills
  • Understanding and demonstration of continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Strong project management skills enabling effective balance of transactional and strategic activities required to run the business
  • Ability to influence for results in cross functional team settings
