The Indirect Procurement Manager for the manufacturing plant is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for all non-production (indirect) goods and services that support plant operations. This includes managing categories such as Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO), utilities, plant services, facility management, logistics, IT, and professional services. The role plays a crucial part in ensuring plant efficiency, cost control, and compliance with corporate procurement policies while supporting safe, reliable, and sustainable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plant-specific sourcing strategies for all indirect spend areas, including MRO supplies, facilities services, utilities, plant capital expenditures, contracted services, IT & Telecom, office supplies, and administrative services.
  • Collaborate with corporate procurement and category leads to ensure alignment with global sourcing strategies and leverage buying power.
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify local and regional suppliers to support the plant's needs.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contract development, and implementation.
  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply risk.
  • Work closely with plant engineering, maintenance, EHS, operations, and finance to understand requirements and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to support projects such as plant expansions, maintenance shutdowns, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide procurement guidance and training to plant staff on purchasing policies and systems.
  • Identify cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities through strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation, and process improvements.
  • Develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models and perform spend analysis to drive decision-making.
  • Implement lean procurement practices and support plant lean manufacturing goals.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage all contracts, including service level agreements, scope of work, and change orders.
  • Conduct periodic audits and vendor reviews to ensure contract and safety compliance.
  • Use ERP and procurement platforms for sourcing, PO management, and reporting.
  • Track and report KPIs, including savings achieved, supplier performance, and sourcing cycle time.
  • Provide monthly procurement reports to plant and corporate leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of procurement experience, including at least 3 years in indirect procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledge of MRO supply chains and plant maintenance operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills.
