Indirect Lending Underwriter
About The Position
Do you enjoy assisting members with financing the car of their dreams? Collins Community Credit Union has an immediate opening for a Full time Indirect Lending Underwriter. This position will work non-traditional hours of week day evenings and Saturdays. The Indirect Underwriter is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, and approving indirect automobile loan applications originated through franchised and independent dealerships. Also, reviewing applications generated through third-party aggregators. This position ensures that loans are underwritten in accordance with established credit policy, risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and fair lending standards, while supporting dealer relationships and maintaining service-level expectations. Will work with branch loan applications and staff from time to time.
Requirements
- Applicants must have valid work authorization for permanent employment in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate borrower creditworthiness using credit reports, income documentation, debt obligations, and compensating factors
- Determine appropriate loan terms including loan amount, APR, term, advance, and collateral eligibility
- Approve, counteroffer, or decline applications within assigned lending authority
- Ensure all loans comply with internal credit policy, underwriting guidelines, and risk tolerances
- Support portfolio quality through consistent, well-documented underwriting decisions
- Communicate loan decisions clearly and professionally to dealership finance personnel
- Structure deals that meet borrower needs while protecting the institutions risk position
- Maintain strong working relationships with dealers by providing timely responses and consistent decisioning
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to ECOA/Regulation B, TILA/Regulation Z, FCRA, and UDAAP standards
- Ensure accurate and complete loan documentation, including credit applications, retail installment contracts, and insurance requirements
