About The Position

The Category Manager - Indirect is responsible for leading sourcing strategies and supplier management for indirect spend categories such as IT, professional services, marketing, facilities, travel, events and MRO. This role balances cost optimization, supplier innovation, and risk management while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to align on Procurement strategies with business goals within assigned Indirect categories. This role will be based on-site in the Milwaukee, WI USA office Monday through Thursday with remote options on Fridays. Preferably the role would have strategic sourcing experiences managing Travel, Events and Credit / Finance categories and may expand to include other indirect categories over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 6+ years of strategic sourcing experiences working in global matrix organization, with a focus on indirect categories.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence change.
  • Proven track record of executing ongoing cost savings, value creation, and supplier innovation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with procurement systems (e.g., Oracle, Concur, etc.) and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple strategic projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies for assigned indirect spend areas.
  • Conduct supplier spend analysis to understand the current supply base and its competitors.
  • Develop multi-year savings pipeline and monitor market trends, benchmarks, and supplier innovations.
  • Engage global stakeholders to evaluate cross-region opportunities and develop relationships with global peers.
  • Lead RFP/I and supplier evaluations for high-value and strategic indirect categories.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to deliver cost savings and value.
  • Build and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring performance and compliance.
  • Implement supplier scorecards, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with business units to understand demand, budgets, and service needs.
  • Ensure contracts meet industry standards, company standards, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.
  • Track and report cost savings, cost avoidance, working capital and overall value delivery.
  • Influence organizational capability in Procurement team and talent pipeline.
