About The Position

The Indigo Press Operator position operates and maintains digital presses that produces various printed materials. This role includes standard operation of the Indigo Digital Presses, Oce Vario printers, and/or Xerox Check printers. (Xerox Check printing is not applicable in NC)

Requirements

  • High School graduate, or completion of GED preferred
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a digital printing and direct mail environment preferred.
  • This position requires and individual who is technically and mechanically oriented with strong computer skills with file-to-print process.
  • Operating either Oce, web digital presses, HP Indigo web and sheetfed, IBM, Xerox iGen sheetfed presses, Kodak, Canon and cut-sheet digital presses is desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in setting up and running HP Indigo equipment and files and HP Indigo certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Able to read and understand Job tickets ( E-Ticket and other Software)
  • Responsible for pulling the appropriate stock and requesting stock from the warehouse
  • Monitor print process to ensure print quality and make changes as needed
  • Maintain equipment and area around the equipment to ensure a clean and organized work environment, as well as operating in a safe and efficient manner
  • Preventive maintenance on all machines
  • Ability to visually track all supplies usage and communicate with supervisor or manager. As well as knowledge of the FIFO system for using supplies.
  • Ability to detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor or manager.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to use the riders and/or forklifts (Optional)
  • Press & Printer Setup/Operation: Setting up, operating, and manually running digital presses and booklet makers, including Indigo Digital Press and BLM booklet makers.
  • Consumables Management: Adding/replacing toner cartridges, waste toner disposal, changing cleaner sheets, spiral rollers, staple cartridges, blankets, pip foils, impression paper, wiper blades, oil filters, silica filters, and Zuwa pump propellers.
  • Machine Cleaning & Care: Cleaning paper paths, cleaning stations, web units, charge rollers, sensors, carbon brushes, developer rollers, and other press components to maintain optimal performance.
  • Adjustments & Troubleshooting: Clearing paper jams, adjusting bind measurements, and performing routine maintenance to ensure consistent equipment operation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Applying knowledge of PrintOS and equipment-specific processes for efficient production management.
