The goal of the Publishing Performance and Intelligence Group (PP&I) is to help deliver next-generation digital publishing at Springer Nature and, as a result, grow the number of published articles, especially in open access (OA). Working closely with the Journals Group, Production, IT, Marketing, and Customer Service, PP&I supports increasing the number of transfers of articles between journals, commissioning new collections, enforcing research integrity, strengthening editor engagement, and delivering enhancements to the end-to-end journal publishing process. Springer Nature’s Indexing team, as part of the Editorial Excellence within PP&I, ensures the leading research reaches the widest and most relevant audiences across the world through premier abstracting & indexing services. These services include PubMed from the US National Library of Medicine and Clarivate’s Web of Science (which also assigns Journal Impact Factors) and remain critical as Springer Nature continues to lead the transition to open access research publishing. Supervised by the Head of Indexing, the Indexing Manager is a core member of the Indexing team and a crucial point of contact for internal and external editorial stakeholders. The Indexing Manager will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing strategic relationships with key indexing services and delivering indexing projects across the Research Publishing Business Unit to bring efficiency and effectiveness in workflow-related aspects of the business. The Indexing Manager will also be responsible for partnering with external indexing services to monitor and track changing requirements and recommend workflow improvements for maximum indexing success.
