About The Position

Arc Human Services is seeking Independent Support Staff to join our team! The position will be part-time Monday-Friday 9am to 1pm. Job Description: Independent Support Staff (ISS) position assists program participants in the development of independent living skills, behavior strategies, self-advocacy and prepares participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities. This position is primarily focused on supporting people in the community or their private homes. An Independent Support Staff person will work closely with the program participant and their family. Most available hours are daylight hours with occasional evenings or weekends. Requirements

  • One-year prior experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability required- Complete PAID training provided!
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Candidate will need to have the ability to pass background checks, physical, TB (ALL company paid!)
  • must regularly lift and / or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred (100) pounds

Responsibilities

  • assists program participants in the development of independent living skills
  • assists program participants in the development of behavior strategies
  • assists program participants in the development of self-advocacy
  • prepares participants to become more independent in their homes, schools, communities, volunteer opportunities, or in preparation for employment opportunities
  • supporting people in the community or their private homes
  • work closely with the program participant and their family
