InAlliance is looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated people to work with adults with developmental disabilities, providing supported living services such as training with home-care management, social skill development, behavior management, and community integration. As an Enhanced Direct Support Provider, you will provide for the care, fellowship, and protection of persons with developmental disabilities while supporting them to be as independent as possible. The Enhanced Direct Support Provider works in a home with a participant that has received a Health and Safety Waiver (HSW) through the Department of Developmental Services. The HSW is based on the participant’s additional health and safety needs. This could include, but limited to co-occurring diagnoses along with their developmental disability, which may include various mental health diagnoses, behavioral challenges, and/or medical diagnoses.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of direct care experience with adults with I/DD (Intellectual /Developmental Disability)
  • 1-2 years of direct care experience or knowledge assisting individuals with medical equipment like Hoyer lift and assisting with catheters and feeding tubes
  • 1-2 years of direct care experience with adults who have behavioral, medical, and/or mental health diagnoses
  • Ability to provide for the safety and well-being of the participant
  • Ability to take directions in a manner other than verbally (i.e. behavioral, communication device, etc.)
  • Commitment to the principles of normalization and support the potential of adults to reside in their own homes and communities
  • Ability to perform the duties of the job independently, organize, and prioritize goals and objectives
  • Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment
  • Ability to physically provide for the participant’s safety and well-being (i.e. CPR, First Aid, lifting, transferring, positioning, running, crouching, etc.)
  • Proof of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (within InAlliance’s guidelines - 3 points or less) from the Department of Motor Vehicles

  • Joining them in their hobbies, entertainment, and other recreational interests they may have
  • Helping them run errands
  • Support with personal hygiene

  • Oral hygiene
  • Assisting on and off commode
  • Changing adult briefs
  • Light household work
  • Meal preparation
  • Lifting and transferring, sometimes with the assistance of a Hoyer lift
