This position is an Income Maintenance Caseworker III within a specialized Adult Medicaid unit, focusing on Long Term Care, Special Assistance, Community Alternatives Program (CAP), and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). The role involves managing an active caseload of approximately 225 case heads, performing complex eligibility determinations, and ongoing case management. Core duties include processing applications, completing recertifications and reviews, handling program transfers, and maintaining accurate and timely case actions in accordance with state and federal regulations. The position requires strong policy interpretation, organization, and the ability to independently prioritize workload in a high-volume environment with multiple deadlines. While supervisory support and team collaboration are available, the role is suited for self-directed, detail-oriented candidates comfortable with high accountability. The primary purpose is to ensure eligible individuals receive timely public assistance benefits by determining or redetermining eligibility for Buncombe County residents across multiple Income Maintenance programs. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a hybrid work arrangement combining in-office and remote work based on operational needs, training progression, and demonstrated reliability.
