About The Position

The position is located at Oak Hill Renaissance Place, within the Department of Job and Family Services. The role involves providing essential support to Case Managers, Eligibility Specialists, and Supervisors in assisting both new and ongoing recipients of public assistance. Responsibilities include managing incoming mail, verifying benefits, scanning documents, creating and indexing client applications, scheduling interviews, and maintaining communication with clients. The position requires a professional demeanor, as it involves direct interaction with the public and addressing client inquiries and complaints.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a clerical, customer service, or related business or social services office position.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (speaking, listening, reading, writing, and comprehension).

Responsibilities

  • Provide required support to Case Managers, Eligibility Specialists, and Supervisors.
  • Open, time stamp, sort, and distribute incoming mail and medical renewals.
  • Request verification for benefits to ensure accurate information and eligibility.
  • Inspect and scan benefit applications and other documents to the correct client case number.
  • Create and index new client applications for Medicaid and long-term care recipients.
  • Screen applications for Adult Protection Services and Homemaker services.
  • Send documents to various community agencies, banks, police departments, hospitals, courts, and attorneys.
  • Schedule client phone interviews and appointments; maintain and update appointment calendar.
  • Return calls to clients and answer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Update and document address changes and other personal information.
  • Explain to clients how to complete required forms for benefits.
  • Resolve complaints and address emergency issues with clients regarding their eligibility.
  • Back-up front lobby activities by greeting the public and directing them to appropriate services.
