About The Position

The Inclusive Program and Event Coordinator will play a vital role in developing and coordinating inclusive programs and events for diverse populations, particularly focusing on individuals with disabilities. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to create engaging and accessible experiences in Montgomery Parks, ensuring that all participants can enjoy recreational activities and events. The coordinator will balance office responsibilities with direct interaction with participants, fostering inclusivity and connection within the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in therapeutic recreation or closely related experience.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to organize work efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation and general knowledge of disabilities and related legislation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a Parks Department or other government organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
  • Ability to communicate in another language.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate leisure programs such as social clubs, recreational activities, and adaptive sports for transition-age youth, adults, and seniors with and without disabilities.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of special and commemorative events.
  • Support collaborative opportunities with community organizations.
  • Develop creative marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and respond effectively to internal and external customers.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers and staff for work programs.
  • Collaborate with the Parks Foundation to solicit sponsorships and grants for program sustainability.
