About The Position

The Inclusion Support Specialist promotes full participation of students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in Arc's before- and after-school expanded learning programs. This position coaches program staff, implements positive behavior strategies, collects and analyzes behavioral data, and collaborates with school partners and families to ensure inclusive programming consistent with district inclusion frameworks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions are the fundamental job duties of the position. All employees must be able to perform these with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in special education, child development, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with youth (K-12) in school, after-school, or community settings.
  • Experience with positive behavior interventions, data collection, or inclusive programming required.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support, functional behavior assessment principles, de-escalation techniques, and activity modification strategies.
  • Strong data collection, observation, and progress monitoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building rapport with students and families.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Certified Trainer through Crisis Prevention Institute
  • 40+ hour certification - Registered Behavior Technician
  • 48+ college semester units (transcripts required) OR passage of district Academic Proficiency/CAPE exam.
  • Negative TB test results.
  • Clear Live Scan fingerprinting (DOJ/FBI).
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (Adult, Child, Infant).
  • Valid California driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

Responsibilities

  • Coach Inclusion Aides and Program Leaders in positive behavior support techniques, activity modifications, de-escalation strategies, and inclusive engagement practices.
  • Provide on-site modeling and feedback to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Observe students and systematically collect behavioral, participation, and progress data.
  • Analyze trends to recommend individualized strategies and report findings to Site Coordinators and families.
  • Partner with Site Coordinators, school staff, families, and program leadership to align after-school supports with student goals and school-day accommodations.
  • Provide direct one-on-one or small-group support to students with diverse needs, including temporary coverage for absent Inclusion Aides to maintain program continuity.
  • Maintain accurate records of observations, interventions, progress notes, and communication logs in compliance with program and organizational requirements.
  • Assist in staff training sessions and professional development workshops.
  • Participate in program planning meetings and needs assessments.
  • Support special events or field trips as needed.
