About The Position

The Inclusion Helper at Havre de Grace Middle School is responsible for providing support and assistance to students with severe disabilities. This role focuses on facilitating student independence, implementing behavioral strategies, and assisting with personal care needs, all while ensuring a positive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Experience working with students preferred.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including lifting and transferring students weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to students during instruction, including modifications and accommodations.
• Facilitates student independence in the least restrictive environment.
• Assists students in completing assignments and reinforces activities.
• Monitors student behavior and implements behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
• Provides assistance with personal care needs, including lifting, transferring, feeding, and toileting.
• Prepares instructional materials for students based on teacher direction.
• Charts data on student progress as necessary.
• Participates in professional development programs as assigned.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
