About The Position
At NSSRA, we believe in the power of making a meaningful impact on the lives of children, teens, and adults with disabilities. As a leader in Special Recreation, we provide year-round community-based recreation programs and services that promote inclusion and empower individuals with disabilities. We are similar to a park district but only serve residents with disabilities in our partner communities. As a Child Care Counselor, you will mentor and play a vital role in creating inclusion within before & after school or preschool programs. Your responsibilities will include fostering positive peer interactions, ensuring participant well-being, and creating inclusive environments where participants with disabilities can thrive alongside their peers.
Requirements
- We seek individuals that want to use their talents to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with disabilities.
- No previous experience is necessary as training will be provided.
- We value teamwork and a strong desire to contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Reliable transportation is required to ensure attendance at all scheduled programs, and commitment to work for the entire season is essential.
Responsibilities
- Actively engaging with and supervising individuals with disabilities
- Ensuring participant safety during recreation events, transportation, and transition times
- Submitting timely reports, evaluations, and timesheets
- Communicating professionally with participants, parents, the public, and staff members
- Fulfilling other assigned duties
