About The Position

The Incident Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating BRC's agency-wide critical incident review processes. Working closely with BRC's compliance and program evaluation teams, the Incident Management Coordinator will play an integral role in helping BRC ensure the safety and security of its staff and clients while also meeting funder regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in public health, social work, public or business administration, or other related field preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior computer literacy skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Power Point) and the ability to learn new computer applications with ease. Knowledge of AWARDS database is a plus.
  • Demonstrated judgment and discretion with regard to confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail, accuracy and pacing.
  • Interest in issues relating to homelessness, mental health and/or substance abuse.
  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting real-time, ongoing quality assurance efforts examining the content and categorization of reported incidents
  • Reviewing incidents to ensure that follow-up activities are done in a timely manner and that preventive measures are in place to address incidents
  • Manage incident reporting of all databases including New York Incident Management Reporting System (NIMRS), Web Submission of Investigation Report (WSIR) and AWARDS.
  • Preparing agency-wide incident data summaries and conducting trend analyses on a quarterly basis to identify trends and potential areas for further action
  • Coordinating and providing support for monthly agency-wide incident review meetings and monthly program-specific meetings for mental treatment and housing programs, including support with agenda setting, meeting logistics and material preparation
  • Conducting and/or coordinating logistics of incident investigations assigned internally and externally.
  • Serving as a member of the agency-wide safety committee to review incidents and risk mitigation from an insurance perspective.
  • Ensuring that all programs are meeting expectations around incident reporting (e.g., content, timeliness, documentation) and review procedures as established by the New York State Office of Mental Health, Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services, and Justice Center.
  • Providing training and technical assistance to staff around best practices for writing incidents and procedures for categorizing incidents.
  • Conducting daily review of incidents with synopsis of key incidents for senior management.
  • Coordinating with program management, external organizations and city officials to address subpoenas, warrants and documentation requests.
