About The Position

The Inbound Transportation Analyst at Gordon Food Service is responsible for coordinating the movement of freight to ensure timely and damage-free deliveries while minimizing freight costs. This role involves collaboration with various departments, carriers, and vendors to manage the supply chain effectively. The analyst will provide daily updates to operations and purchasing, analyze situations to determine the best course of action, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated math and accounting aptitude.
  • Ability to analyze, coordinate, and develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to work positively in a team and build strong relationships.
  • Self-directed with the ability to prioritize and make decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and confirms load dispatches to the freight carrier or GFS driver.
  • Secures carrier or GFS resources on an as-needed basis, including expedited shipments and seasonal activities.
  • Ensures pickups occur on time as determined by the purchase order dates.
  • Confirms pickup dates of the load with the carrier or GFS driver.
  • Follows up on load status and communicates necessary information to Analysts in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with Analysts, operations, receiving, and carriers to maximize load efficiency.
  • Manages communication and flow of product through Capstone consolidation points.
  • Develops and maintains good relations with suppliers, carriers, and customers.
  • Evaluates lane-based activities to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Measures and evaluates lane performance.
  • Adheres to and supports freight management strategies.
  • Coordinates vendor returns as needed.
  • Determines the most cost-effective method of freight for shipments and tenders loads to appropriate transportation providers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
