About The Position

The Inbound Operations Team Leader role at Target is an integral part of the General Merchandise and Food Sales team, focusing on ensuring products are merchandised, available, accurately priced, and properly signed on the sales floor. Specifically, the Inbound team is responsible for efficiently unloading trailer deliveries and preparing merchandise for stocking. This position offers significant opportunities for professional development, including building skills in guest service, understanding retail business fundamentals (such as sales trends, inventory management, pricing, and promotions), planning daily and weekly workloads, and leading a team of hourly members. Leadership development encompasses interviewing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining talent. The role is dynamic, requiring a proactive approach to consistently deliver on guest experience commitments and drive operational results.

Requirements

• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise up to 44 pounds throughout the duration of a shift without additional assistance from others. This task involves repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
• Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).

Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience.
• Ensures every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
• Actively observes and provides feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
• Reviews area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, takes action to improve, and aligns team on the right behaviors and execution, celebrates wins, drives results that deliver outcomes and elevates the guest experience.
• Understanding sales goals and plans, and executing daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
• Leading and sharing expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy and efficiency.
• With guidance from your direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations.
• With the guidance of your direct leader, utilize your workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring areas are guest ready at store open.
• Assign daily tasks to TMs based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities set by your direct leader.
• Assess all GM backroom, sales floor areas and review reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve any issues identified.
• Enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is available for purchase.
• Assist your direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change.
• With guidance and assistance from your direct leader, build a team of GM Experts from initial selection through onboarding and learning.
• Develop team members through ongoing training and direction by giving direction and providing feedback when validating work completion.

• Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices.
• If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
• Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience for the store during assigned shifts based on store needs.
• Address all store and offsite emergency and compliance needs.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.
