About The Position

SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates the day to day activities within a specific shift and department within the distribution center to insure productivity, safety, expenses, budget goals are met, inventory is properly maintained and accurate, and to insure the deliveries to member stores are accurate and timely. Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Degree or equivalent; or two to three years of supervisory experience in a grocery warehouse; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Valid Driver’s License.
Operation of warehouse mobile equipment.
Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
Ability to sit and taste or smell.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the productive, timely and quality receiving of all products into the warehouse.
Increase production and effectively utilize the work force to maximize efficiency and reduce warehouse operating expenses.
Direct the placement of the work force responding to the changing needs during the shift.
Coordinate activities between departments and shifts for optimum efficiency.
Hire, train, develop, recognize, and evaluate the performance of all employees on the shift.
Train and develop supervisors in all aspects of warehousing within the department and shift.
Provide an atmosphere of open and honest communications and a positive working environment.
Enforcement and education of company safety, sanitation, security and standards of operation.
Responsible for reducing safety risks and minimizing exposure by working with team to insure all safety policies and practices are followed. Conduct audits, train employees, make inspections and observations, praise and acknowledge good safe practices, manage work related injuries to minimize loss and conduct complete accident investigations on all incidents.
Administer disciplinary action per divisional policies and procedures.
Oversee the resolution of employee complaints or grievances to facilitate a proper resolution.
Conduct pre-shift meetings with team to communicate daily goals, member needs, safety issues and problem areas that need to be addressed.
Conduct and monitor disciplinary steps taken by warehouse supervision to insure proper steps are followed.
Communicate to the Warehouse Manager problem areas, improvements, etc., regarding the warehouse center’s operation.
Responsible for seeing that state, federal and AWG safety, sanitation, and governmental policies, laws and regulations are maintained and adhered to.
Maintains positive and constructive relationship with vendor partner. Holds them accountable to all AWG process and procedure
Work as a member of the AWG team so the total job responsibilities are met. Actions must always stress a sense of cooperation, integrity, tact and consideration with our members, associates and division management.
This position requires strong communication and computer skills with the ability to use and learn new technology. The Flawless Execution method will be utilized in all planning and communication. Management will be kept informed on planning, analysis, work performed and results. All records required by management must be complete, accurate and submitted on time.
