As an Inbound Freight Handler, you will be responsible for loading and unloading freight onto and off of equipment, and assisting in the recouping of damaged freight. This includes preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailers before loading. You will use safe lifting techniques and proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers to move, load, arrange, rearrange, and unload freight. Key tasks also involve weighing and dimensioning shipments for proper classification, freight rating, and safe handling, as well as planning cube utilization and weight distribution. You will count and inspect freight for shortages or damage, review freight bills for special instructions, and check manifests against freight bills. Additionally, you will verify hazardous material product descriptions, address discrepancies in paperwork, ensure proper placarding, and correctly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
