About The Position

The In-Service Training Specialist/Professional Certificate Program Manager is responsible for administering programs and mandates related to in-service training for justice officers in North Carolina. This role includes overseeing the Professional Certificate/Service Award programs and conducting various statistical and research projects as assigned by the Commission or Director. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring that law enforcement personnel meet the required training and certification standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
• Two years of administrative and/or technical experience in criminal justice or law enforcement related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer all programs and mandates of the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission related to in-service training of justice officers.
• Oversee the Professional Certificate/Service Award programs.
• Conduct statistical and research projects as assigned by the Commission or Director.
• Regulate Community Colleges, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and local agencies in delivering commission-mandated course offerings.
• Provide technical assistance to agencies in the criminal justice system regarding program participation and responsibilities.
