About The Position

The Sylvan In-School Teacher is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience for students in grades 6-8 using Sylvan program materials. The student / teacher ratio is 4:1. NO lesson planning, NO grading assignments... Awesome for retired teachers! As a successful Sylvan Teacher your duties and responsibilities will include: Being passionate about teaching at Sylvan and bringing that passion to work every day! Assisting in delivering a quality education using Sylvan’s digitally based personalized learning plans and proprietary curriculum Assisting n supervising, interacting with, and motivating students (using Sylvan’s proven motivational program) while assisting in working on lessons that adapt to the student's individual skill level and pace, making learning challenging and fun, never frustrating Assisting in providing students with instant feedback and recognition Assisting in managing the conclusion of each instructional session and managing the completion of learning log and transition activities Providing administrative support to Center Director, Director of Education, and Executive Director Support community outreach, marketing, and center activities Attending periodic staff meetings and completing ongoing training as needed Completing certification training on Sylvan program

Requirements

  • Education, experience, or expertise in education and supporting students academically
  • General knowledge of office and computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skill
  • Willingness to learn and provide support, as needed to ensure all students and families receive the highest level of customer service
  • Complete Sylvan Training on all assigned Sylvan programs with first 2 weeks of hire date
  • Follow bi-weekly work schedule
  • Complete background check
  • Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
  • Strong problem solving and customer service skills
  • Strong team player
